LECLAIRE WITH THE JACKETS

SENS TRADE VERMETTE FOR LECLAIRE

GM Bryan Murray is having a very busy morning in Ottawa trading finally for a number one goalie in Columbus Blue Jackets former first round pick Pascal Leclaire.

In getting Leclaire Murray hopes to have solved the goalie situation with the Sens once and for all. Also landing Columbus’s 2nd round draft pick in the deal for second liner Antoine Vermette.

Murray is hoping that Leclaire regains the goaltending of last season where he had 9 shutouts with stellar play for the Blue Jackets. I believe this is a good deal for Murray as Vermette outside the fact he has been good on faceoffs had badly underachieved as a scoring top 6 forward for the Sens. With trading Vermette the Sens are giving up a lousy 9 goals to date on his season, not too bad !

Stay tuned to see if Murray can use the money to now sign Chris Neil or if he will be traded as the day goes on, Hockey God will keep you updated and write our opinion as this plays out.

SIGNINGS TODAY SO FAR :

Sens sign defenceman Filip Kuba to a three year deal for $3.7, a good deal for Sens Murray.

Last night Mike Gillis, Canucks GM signed Alex Burrows to a extension for $2 million per year times four yrs for a total of $8 million. Great deal by Gillis, Burrows is starting to really come into his own and looks like he will be a top flight player.

Kings extend veteran defenceman Sean O’Donnell to a one year deal for $ 1.25 to stay in L.A.

Tim Connelly has signed a two year $9 million dollar extension to stay with the Sabres.

MORE TRADES-TRANSACTIONS:

Calgary Flames have acquired D Jordan Leopold for Lawrence Nycholat.

Great trade by Flames ! Leopold who was once a Flame will add depth to a team that has had some injuries at the moment. GM Sutter seems to be interested in Coyotes Ollie Yokinen a coach Mike Keenan favorite from his days in Florida. The reports are that the two teams are working on a deal as we speak.

DEAL DONE ! Calgary gives up Brandon Prust who Hockey God loves and knows as a player and will be a great gritty forward for years to come and Mathew Lombardi for Ollie Yokinen. 1st Round Pick involved in this deal as well.

Great deal for Flames except the fact that they are giving up on Prust who will develop into an impact player. But the Flames now land a  legit top 6 forward for Keenan with great leadership under the best captain in the NHL in Jerome Iginla. This deal was made to win a Stanley Cup now for the Flames GM Sutter and coach Keenan.

Coyotes traded back-up tender Mikael Tellqvist to the Sabres for a 4th round pick.

Good move by the Sabres to add a solid backup to their team behind number one Ryan Miller.

Toronto claims D Erik Reitz off NYR and goaltender Martin Gerber from the Sens… The question has to be why ?  This allows Toskala to shut his season down and get his needed operation to be ready for next season.

Boston picks up Steve Montador from the Ducks for 4th liner Petteri Nokelainen. Complete depth trade for the Bruins landing the tough rugged Montador.

Boston also lands veteran winger Mark Recchi, who has had a solid year and has won a Stanley Cup moving forward. Bruins were smart to jump in on this vet with excellent work ethic. In the deal the Bruins give up to Tampa Matt Lashoff & Martin Karsums.

Islanders captain Bill Guerin has been traded to the Penguins for a draft pick. Guerin has had a good year and will help the Pens leadership, grit and hopefully scoring heading into the last months of the playoff race.

Hockey God hot rumor is the Flyers attempting to land Coyotes gritty Daniel Carcillo and defenceman Derek Morris.

As reported by Hockey God today the Coyotes have traded Daniel Carcillo to the Flyers for Scottie Upshall and a second round pick. Carcillo has run into problems off the ice in Phoenix and they have had enough of his act moving the grinding winger to the Flyers who love those type of players. I love Carcillo’s grit and love the deal for the Flyers. He can hit , fight and last season scored some goals.

Nik Antropov traded to NYR for a second round pick and a conditional draft pick if he signs with  New York. Antropov is a big risk with being a free agent this summer and not sure where he wants to play and loves Toronto.

Rangers also landed defenceman Derrik Morris for Petr Prucha, Nigel Dawes and D Dmitri Kalinin.

Toronto trades Dominik Moore to the Sabres for a 2nd round pick.

Ducks trade Erik Chistensen to Atlanta for Eric O’Dell.

Tampa trades former Kitchener Ranger Steve Eminger for Noah Welch and a 3rd rounder. The key to this trade is Eminger played for Florida coach Pete DeBoer in Kitchener.

Hawks land from the Ducks forward Sami Pahlsson for James Wisniewski. Great move for the Hawks to get this skilled forward who has a Stanley Cup while with the Ducks.

Flyers rescued Kyle McLaren from the Sharks who was in the minors mostly because of cap issues. Flyers only gave up a 6th round pick in the deal.

Sharks have landed Travis Moen from the Ducks who is a very tough player who plays extremely hard every game out. Excellent deal for the Sharks to land this kid for playoffs. In the deal the Sharks also got some depth on the back end with Kent Huskins.

Kings 3-way shocker: Patrick O’sullivan has been traded to Edmonton- Justin Williams to Kings and the Oilers trade Eric Cole back to Canes in this 3-way deal.

Edmonton Oilers also landed Ales Kotalik from the Sabres for a 2nd round pick.

More on Hockey God Thursday on the Toronto deals that included landing prospect former first round pick with Tampa D Andy Rogers for Marlies Richard Petiot among a major salary dump of players that saw Toronto also get a 4th round draft pick from Tampa in the deal.
