Frosty’s All Star Formula & Picks……..NHL NOTES:

January 9th, 2009

Hockey God’s new All Star formula and player picks chosen by players to make the next NHL All Star game more like a regular season game with hitting, fighting, scoring is the way to go. The formula would take away the boring soft heartless effort we get from the game today. It’s virtually a no hitter with scoring that doesn’t show how good of a sport hockey really is and can be.

Formula for the Eastern & Western Conferences are as follows:

Players vote in their own conference only. They choose in each conference 6 top skilled scoring forwards. Then they choose any 3 from the players left over that are a mix of skill and grit on their respective teams. Then you choose your 4th line from 4th line players around the conference. Including 1 tough guy for each conference and the other 2 4th line players that penalty kill or play a gritty checking style.

Then players choose 4 skill scoring type defenseman from the conference. Then choosing another 3 for 7 on each team that play a gritty tough stay at home defensive style or combination of both to round out the skaters on each conference.  The players choose the 3 goalies to play a period each in the game. Using this formula there would be fights , hitting , scoring all the things that make a game real in the NHL. Offer a money prize that is substantial enough to get the players juices flowing and you should see some competitive hockey. Here is this years picks for the All Star game with this formula:

NHL NOTES:

- Pens very smart to lock up young 3rd line forward Jordan Staal, he signed a 4 year, 16 Million pact.

- Last nights, Leafs-Habs game turned into a fight fest, does anyone think that the addition of Brad May for Toronto helped some of the others grow some nuts in the game? Yes! Jamal Mayers, who is a tough guy pounded on Habs Tom Kostopoulos in a great fight.

- Kaberle has said that he would accept a trade if Leafs GM Brian Burke tells him he doesn’t want him anymore. Well, Tomas get prepared because that’s  coming within a month. Kaberle, the skilled but soft long time Leaf could have fetched the Flyer’s scoring machine Jeff Carter last NHL deadline. One could only imagine what Burke can pull off from a team in need of a skilled D like Kaberle.

- W.T.F ?, Is the only way to ask what happened last night with this score Atlanta 4 Devils 0. Lou L. will be just beside himself right now in New Jersey.

- Fact that Flyers Mike Richards is left off the All Star team is proof enough there needs to be changes made to the selection process.

- Boston’s tough gritty winger Shawn Thornton and Sens Chris Neil was  great dust up last night between the two teams. The two held nothing back going toe to toe. At-least Neil hasn’t thrown in the towel in Ottawa yet.

- Sens coach Craig Hartsburg might want to be careful with captain Daniel Alfredsson, word is he and the Sens Owner are not only very close but they have each others ears on the team.

“Those guys cost us the game,” said Hartsburg. “You try to trust your good players and those guys cost us the game.”

- Tell  me it wasn’t strange to watch the big Swede # 13 Mats Sundin skate around without the C on his sweater and in a Canucks uni. Oilers tried to welcome Sundin with a little old fashioned Western intimidation in his first game. Sundin even as a European never seemed  to be easily taken off his game in Toronto.

- Canada Jr sensation kid John Tavares was traded to the OHL’s best franchise the London Knights yesterday . Tavares playing for the Oshawa Generals will go to the Knights for a hopefully long playoff run, great for his development. Included in the deal going back the other way was former Leafs winger Steve Thomas’ son.
